A Proud Supporter

Welcome to WIRES Blue Mountains

Wherever we may live, we share our environment with other creatures – native animals which have had to adapt to human habitation. Unfortunately, some animals are injured or orphaned when they come into contact with our way of life. The increasing pressure of land clearance, domestic and feral animals, motor vehicles, and unnecessary human interference all take their toll. WIRES Blue Mountains has been saving native wildlife since 1987. Our network of local volunteers continues to serve the region from Lithgow to the Penrith Plains, 24hrs a day,
7 days a week... and all for free.

  • Rescue and rehabilitate injured, sick, orphaned or misplaced animals, through a network of trained volunteer rescuers, foster-carers and veterinarians.

  • Release rehabilitated animals back into the wild.

  • Promote an interest in wildlife in its natural habitat.

  • Answer your questions about wildlife, or refer you to experts for information.

  • Distribute information on wildlife and how to lessen human impact.

Welcome to our website.
